Dentists, Hygienists, or Dental Assistants who are responsible for overseeing radiation compliance for their dental office. 

Course Description:

Texas has some of the most stringent (and enforced) radiation safety requirements in the country. This course will prepare dental offices for their next unannounced inspection from the Texas Department of State Health Services – Radiation Control Bureau. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. This course will provide participants with pounds of prevention; there is no reason to ever get an x-ray violation. This course will support you to that end. 

Course Objectives:

• Participants will review safety considerations while working with x-ray equipment
• Participants will review safety considerations while working with laser equipment
• Participants will develop an understanding of state inspection processes
• Participants will be able to identify and articulate two types of periodic x-ray equipment checks.

Participants will be able to articulate compliance requirements for 289.232 and 232.227 (DSHS x-ray and laser rules)
